  • All about USD Extended Care!


    USD Extended Care is a before and after school program in Union School District. We offer a high-quality care program that serves as an extension of the school day. Our valuable staff members plan and facilitate a variety of activities for the students at our school sites. The USD Extended Care program follows the board approved district calendar. We are closed all legal holidays and Union School District local holidays.

                        Our elementary school locations include: Alta Vista, Carlton, Guadalupe, Lietz, Noddin, and Oster

    • Academic activities in grades K-1 focus on increasing skills in reading and math
    • Dedicated homework/reading time for students in grades 2-5
    • STEAM activities
    • Access to school-level technology (Chromebooks and iPads)
    • Access to school facilities
    • Daily snacks provided (parents must notify staff of any food allergies, sensitivities, and/or preferences. Parents can provide an alternative snack if their child cannot have the snack provided.)

    • Creative indoor activities
    • Middle school students may have the opportunity to participate in off-site walking field trips to local businesses and restaurants. These are not mandatory and families must provide permission for students to attend the trip. If a student elects to not participate, a USD employee will remain on site with the students. Details about the trip will be shared in advance.

    Calendar & Schedule Information

    • Before school care (elementary sites only) begins at 7:00am* and continues until the start of school.
      • *Care at Lietz Elementary will start at 6:30am
    • The after school program begins immediately following school dismissal times
      • This includes days with early dismissal - and continues until 6pm.
    • Please note that USD Extended Care will close early on the last day of school.

    Drop Off & Pick Up

    • We have an open-door policy. 
      • Parents are welcome to pick up their child at any time.
    • To ensure safety, all children being dropped off or picked up from Extended Care must be signed in and/or out before leaving campus.
    • Parents do not need to sign their child in when they are dismissed from school:
      • Younger children are picked up directly from their classroom by Extended Care staff.Older children walk directly from their classroom to the Extended Care site, where our staff signs them in.
      • All children must be escorted in and out of the designated pick up/drop off area by an authorized adult or a sibling over the age of 18.
    • Please review our detailed instructions on how to add authorized pickups to your account. You may also call 669-222-2005 for assistance.

    Student Illness or Concerns

    • Please notify your site supervisor when your child is sick and will not be attending Extended Care.
      • Students who are absent from school or sent home from school for any reason are not permitted to attend Extended Care.
      • Students who are sent home with a fever are not permitted to attend Extended Care until they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
    • During the online registration process, parents must complete enrollment questions regarding allergies, medication needs, and dietary restrictions.
      • Parents are responsible for keeping this information up to date in their online account.
      • If a child needs medication while at Extended Care, then the child's physician and the parent will fill out the Union School District Medication Release form.
      • The form and medication (in its original box with the doctor’s orders) must be given to the Extended Care Site.

    Drop In Services

    • Children enrolled in a current USD Extended Care program can request a drop in day by contacting the site supervisor.
      • For example, a child who regularly attends after school two days a week can drop-in for additional days during the week.
      • Advance notice, space availability, and fee payment is required for all drop-ins.

    • Alternatively, we are pleased to offer a Non-Contract Drop In service.
      • This program is for children who are not enrolled in USD Extended care on a regular basis but will require some drop in days.

  • How does registration work?

    • Online registration is required for every school year and for every camp.

    • Registration does not automatically carry over from year to year.

    • Please visit the website, create or login to your account, and then complete the online registration process.
    • Your contract will be in PENDING status once you complete the online registration.
      • Eleyo will send an email confirmation of the pending status.
    • Your contract will be reviewed, and you will be notified of the status, either approved or waitlisted.
      • Contract review may take up to 1-2 weeks.
    • Registration guides are available to assist you with the registration process.

    • Program space is limited, and waitlist status is not uncommon. When space opens for your student, you will be notified one week in advance. The space can only be held for your student for a maximum of two weeks.
  • Important information regarding financial policies

    • All late pickups will result in a fee.
      • All children must be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. each day. 
      • Our late pick-up fee is calculated as follows: $10.00 for the first 5 minutes and an additional $1.00 per minute going forward.
      • This fee is per child and must be paid within 2 business days.
    • Please see our website for invoice and payment dates.
    • Saving a payment method in your profile is required in order to complete the registration process. All payment methods (credit card or e-check) are securely saved within your Eleyo profile, and no charges will be made until your contract is approved.
    • Tuition and fees will be invoiced monthly. All payments and fees must be paid through our online platform.
      • For assistance with payment, please contact us at ec@unionsd.org or 669-222-2005.
    • Split payments are when more than one parent/guardian will make a payment on a single tuition invoice/bill. To facilitate split payments, the account owner (parent or guardian) must contact us at ec@unionsd.org.
    • Refunds and make up days are not available.
    • If a child goes home from the care program during the day for any reason, they cannot return that day.
    • USD Extended Care works with local subsidy programs.
      • If tuition is paid by a subsidized agency, then parents will be responsible for all paperwork and must provide Extended Care the approved agency’s certificate prior to the start of the session.
      • Parents are financially responsible for any co-pays or unpaid tuition from the subsidy agency.
    • Scholarships are not available.
    • Voluntary student accident insurance options are available. Please review the Health & Wellness in USD webpage for more information.
  • Important information regarding schedule changes and withdrawals


    Schedule Change Policy

    • Schedule changes must be requested online through the Eleyo profile or via email.
    • Parents must notify the site supervisor two full billing weeks before an effective change in the child’s schedule.
    • Future tuition will be recalculated, and the remaining monthly payments will be adjusted to reflect the requested change in schedule.


    Withdrawal Policy

    • Regardless of the reason, parents must notify the site supervisor in writing four full billing weeks before withdrawing their child from Union Extended Care.
    • Final tuition will be recalculated, and parents will be financially responsible for all the weeks their child has attended Extended Care, including the four weeks of notice.
    • Final payment will be due one week before the agreed withdrawal date.
    • If the parent chooses to return to Union Extended Care, a new $50 re-registration fee will be required.
    • Children will be unable to enroll in Union School District camps or the subsequent year if the account has an outstanding balance due.
    • Abrupt departures from the Union School District (unable to provide four full billing weeks of advance notice) will result in a short-notice withdrawal fee in the amount of two weeks tuition.
  • What is the Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P)?

    The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) provides free before-school, after-school, and summer enrichment for qualifying transitional kindergarten through sixth grade students. ELOP is designed to support the whole child through safe, engaging, and hands-on experiences outside the traditional school day.


    What does ELOP Offer?

    • Free extended care during non-school hours
    • Priority access and enrollment for qualifying students
    • STEAM and literacy-based enrichment
    • Homework support and academic reinforcement
    • Arts, recreation, and social-emotional learning
    • Safe, supervised school campus locations


    Who qualifies? Students in TK–6th grade are eligible if they meet any of the following:

    • Qualify for free or reduced-price meals
    • Are English Learners (Qualify for priority registration - not free enrollment. Cannot Self-Identify)
    • Are Foster Youth
    • Attend a school designated for ELOP funding
    • Priority is given to students who meet multiple eligibility criteria. Space is limited and may vary by site.

    How to Enroll

    • Enrollment is managed through your school’s Extended Care department.
    • Qualifying families will receive an invitation for priority registration.

  • What's next...All about SUMMER CAMP!

    Enrollment & Tuition Details:

      • Children can be enrolled for single weeks of summer camp.
      • We are unable to offer part time enrollment options. 
      • Enrollment is for the entire week, however the child does not have to attend all 5 days.
